EU LCS Summer Playoffs: Misfits in Finals
|
First round: Fnatic vs. Misfits (1-3)
Without going so far as to say that the Misfits were aggressive, they try much more than the Fnatic during the first 20 minutes which gives them a small lead. Not worried about their composition late game, the Fnatic have the funny idea to try a sneaky baron in the 25th and leave 3 dead. It is then practically necessary to wait 15 minutes to review a little action when the two teams confront each other again to the baron. At this point and with this composition, Fnatic should have had the advantage despite his deficit but the Misfits make no mistake while their opponents are misplaced and decimated. That does not sound the end of the match since there will still be a third fight at the Baron’s repop. More strained given the points of life of Misfits at the beginning, the one turns all the same to the advantage of the rabbits who tried especially to gain time while their minions destroyed the base adverse.
Second round:
After a rather balanced start, IgNar will offer the advantage to his team by linking up the right hooks, allowing the Misfits to take 4K in advance in 5 short minutes. Although they do not give up, the Fnatic have dominated each teamfight (even in numerical superiority) and logically lose a second consecutive round.
Third round:
After two games (and 20 minutes) almost perfect, the Misfits finally make a mistake in the first teamfight of the third inning by getting caught before being all present. The Fnatic do not waste time and quickly transform this opportunity into a comfortable lead. They are obviously fearful of the idea of making a mistake and losing the Bo5, they take an eternity to complete the Misfits, which has almost turned against them but it has pushed their opponents to be imprudent and everything is at Final returned in order.
Fourth round:
After the intermission of the third round, we come back to the most classic with two teams very cautious, Fnatic who go to battle misplaced and Misfits opportunists who do not make mistakes and jump on the slightest opportunity to widen the gap. Shorter and brutal than the others, this ultimate sleeve sums up pretty well this Bo5.
Misfits took advantage of UoL’s weaknesses to get there, but he was especially impressed by his level of play. It was very simple: we had not seen the MSF at this level since the beginning Of the Spring season, when they tickled the G2 at the top of the ranking of the EU LCS. Assuming they maintain the same level of play tonight, can they challenge Fnatic’s hegemony? The latter is undoubtedly the strongest team of the season and the main candidate for the title but there is one but: everything has not always been rosy and the failure of the Rift Rivals remains in all minds. More recently, Fnatic has been ridiculed by NiP in a game without major stakes but it has played seriously. Is this to say that the match that arrives promises to be disputed and fast-paced? It’s going a bit far. Unless they are paralyzed by fear or their opponents suddenly acquire the quality of execution of a Korean team, the FNCs remain intrinsically better and their experience makes any psychological problem quite unlikely. This of course does not mean that a victory of Misfits is of the order of the impossible but that it will be necessary that the Fnatic are much worse than usual and that the MSF make no mistake for this to happen .
H2k Gaming vs. G2 Esports
If we were to make this preview only on the basis of this single season things would be folded: between a team that struggled against Splyce in 1/4 and another who achieved a season almost perfect (without impressing) there is clearly no photo. However, the H2K are the all-round champions of the final-stage failure and many cannot take them seriously, especially against an opponent as experienced as G2.
The players have changed, the coach and the problems of H2K remain the same from one season to the other and if a victory against G2 is of course not impossible, see H2K wallowing again in the last line Right is far from impossible as G2 seems to gradually regain its marks. If they were to the trouble against Splyce, it is mainly because the Danes have delivered their best game of the year (we recommend it if you have not seen it yet), not because PerkZ, Trick and Co. were mediocre. A Bo5 very open therefore that will be played essentially on the psychological resistance of the H2K.
Between disappointment and spectacular spectacle, the quarter-finals of the EU LCS left us puzzled though entertained. The last square will be played without the UoL which should, at first glance, facilitate Fnatic. However, we are increasingly reluctant to make the slightest forecast as the European scene is strange this year and we will therefore be content to hope for interesting matches which is far from impossible given the styles of Fnatic and Misfits (Or even G2 on occasion).
