EPG Release their Entire Dota 2 Squad
|
The last couple of months have been very tough for Elements Pro Gaming who have been struggling to achieve any noteworthy results during that period. As the date when Valve would announce the teams directly invited for the qualifiers, the reports on EPG possibly receiving that invite started to circulate. When Valve announced those teams, EPG was among those to be playing in the qualifiers but marked the moment when the troubles started for Elements Pro Gaming.
Players leaving the team
The end of May was an especially troublesome period for this team. Several players decided to leave the team. Swiftending and Pingvincek decided they will no longer play for EPG and that they will be leaving the team. With the deadline for roster lock already passed, with those two players leaving the team, it meant that EPG will have to play in the open qualifiers for The International 7 which nobody wanted.
However, those were not the only players that left the team. A couple of days later, another player, Gordan ‘g0g1’ Proši%u0107 also announced that he would be leaving the team. At that moment, it looked like EPG would not be able to fill the team for the qualifiers but they reacted quickly and signed three new players.
The first player that signed with Elements Pro Gaming in June was Duško ‘Boranija’ Boranijaševi%u0107. He did not have a lot of experience in professional Dota 2 competitions. After him, EPG announced that they have also signed Ilya ‘Illidan’ Pivtsaev as well as Roman ‘rmN-‘ Paley. Those two players are well-known players who have huge experience in Dota 2 competitions. According to many commentators, with the new roster Elements, Pro Gaming had significant chances of having good qualifiers for The International 7. However, that did not happen.
Dropping the Entire Roster
Elements Pro Gaming had to play in the open qualifiers because they have broken the deadline when it comes to the roster changes. With that kind of atmosphere in the team, Elements Pro Gaming did not have a lot of chances for succeeding in securing their spot in the next round of the qualifiers.
Soon after the start of the qualifiers, EPG were out. This meant that their dreams about playing in the biggest eSports tournament in the world have been destroyed. Because of that, team management decided to make the radical move to make changes that would perhaps bring much better results for this organization.
Last night, EPG announced that they have dropped their entire Dota 2 roster and that the season has ended for them. This move meant that all those involved in the team are very disappointed due to the elimination from the qualifiers. The main reason the management decided to release the team was because of this.
So far, we do not know where these players will continue their career. One thing is sure – we will not find out until the end of The International.
The team, on the other hand, will have enough time to rebuild their Dota 2 roster properly and to come back stronger than ever.
