Dota 2 Team Signed By OpTic Gaming

It has been announced that the well-known OpTic Gaming organisation has made their first foray into the world of Dota 2 as they have now signed The Dire. This announcement was made yesterday and came as a surprise to a lot of people in the space of Dota 2.
Never before has the Optic Gaming organisation gone outside of the world of first person shooters and into a different esport. This does not mean that they will be turning their focus away from FPS titles, they are just looking to expand and try new things and see where that will lead them.
The Dire is a group that first came together after the roster shuffle of T17 before the fall season began. While they have only been together for a short period of time, they still managed to earn qualification for the DOTA Summit 8 Minor event that will be taking place shortly.
They managed to qualify as a result of their winning of the King’s Cup: America. There most recent outings in the world of Dota 2 came during the qualification rounds for the ESL One Hamburg 2017 as well as the PGL Open Bucharest 2017.
The new captain will be ppd and this comes after he stepped down from the position of being the CEO of the Evil Geniuses organisation.
He has been playing the esport for the past number of years, dating back to 2014 and he had a great record of finishing inside of the top 3 in each of the Internationals that he played at during this stretch of time.
While he did not participate at all last season, it appears that he has gotten the itch to compete once again and will be ready to rock and roll with the new Optic Gaming roster. This was a unique situation that would likely not come around again as an organisation as big of Optic Gaming were entering into an entirely new type of esport.
At this moment in time the esports that Optic Gaming have teams for are Call of Duty, CS:Go, Gears of War and Halo. The new Dota 2 roster is going to be made up of Peter “ppd” Dager (who will be the team captain), Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen, Per Anders Olsson “Pajkatt” Lille, Ludwig “Zai” Wahlberg and Quinn “CC&C” Callahan.
After ppd resigned from his role as CEO of Evil Geniuses, they also lost another player on their roster to Optic Gaming as zai has announced his departure. This leaves gaps that need to be filled and already it has been announced that the previous Dota 2 team manager for Evil Geniuses will be stepping up as the COO.
This is a show of confidence in him by the other partners and owners of the team and they look set to be an organisation that will grow from strength to strength over time.
Their immediate focus is now going to be filling the spot in the roster that has been opened by the departure of zai. It is exciting times for involved at Optic and Evil Geniuses.
