The AMD Sapphire Dota PIT League tournament is coming up very soon. This marks the sixth Dota Pit tournament. Two International 2017 finalists, Team Liquid and Newbee, were directly invited to the event while six other teams made it into the event through qualifications.
The league event will be held November 2-5 in Split, Croatia. $300,000 is up for grabs among the teams. 300 Pro Circuit points will also be given out during the event.
As the odds for the event have been released, it appears that the two invited teams have some of the best odds. A few of the qualifiers are aiming to contend as well.
The Two Invitees
Team Liquid holds a +230 line to win the event. This marks the first event for Team Liquid since early August when the team won $10.8 million at the International. The team has won its last six events including two DreamLeague seasons. Also, the same multi-national team that won the Invitational will contend at the Dota PIT League event.
Newbee has a +450 line. This also marks their first event appearance since they were swept by Team Liquid at the International although the team has been heralded as one of the tops in the game in recent time.
Virtus.pro has made for a strong presence at many esports events but its disappointing finish outside the podium at the International was a concern to many. The team is looking to make a big comeback as they hold a +300 line. The team does not appear to have many any changes as it is sticking with the same roster that it has held since August 2016. The team did win the last two Summit events.
Vici Gaming is also expected to be a big contender. Vici has a +450 line to win the event. This is appealing as the Chinese team has a completely new roster that was introduced in September. This includes a player on loan from EHOME and a support player who had been the team’s coach for a bit. The team has not competed in any significant events since December when the team finished in second at the World Cyber Arena event.
OG, Mineski, Immortals and SG are the other four teams who are competing in this event. The first three of those teams have lines of +1100 or +1200.
SG is significantly far off to the back of the pack as that team has a +4000 line. The Brazilian team made it into the event through the South America qualifier. The team established a new roster in September. Although the team recently won the Pichau Masters minor tournament, the team does not have much experience in larger events. This comes in spite of how the team became the first South American team in two years to compete in a major when they contended for the Kiev Major earlier this year.
The AMD Sapphire Dota PIT League event will be one of the first anticipated events for the coming season. The odds for the event are subject to change based on possible team movements and other key actions.
